Personal Interests
Lake Life
I grew up around lakes and boats. Between the annual week-long Shasta houseboat trips and the rental cabins at Clear Lake, there have always been boating weekends at either Tahoe, Delta, New Melones Lake, or Camanche Reservoir. In 1999, my family bought the first boat, a 20' Larson I/O ski boat. This gave us more lake weekends and even a few after-school dinners on the water at the local lake.
Our Clear Lake family cabin started making memories since 2000. Over twenty years later, it's still the go-to place for summer hangouts with family and friends. Everyone knows where to typically find us, if not at home.
My wife's parents live in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Similar story on her side growing up - the boat was (and is) always out.
Scuba Diving
First certified in 2010, from taking a semester long course at San Jose State University. Fell in love with diving, and decided to continue learning. The following semester, I enrolled in the Advanced and Rescue dive class. During that time, the local dive shop recognized my newfound hobby and hired me on. Working at the dive shop was my main part-time job throughout college. Me and my wife are both divers and love the ocean. This is one of the reasons why we love living in Monterey, CA. When remote work started in 2020, we decided to make the move down and setup residence here.
Camping
Car and tent camping is also a popular hobby of ours. Few things beat hanging out with friends and family in the outdoors with a big cooler and a fire. Since summertime is used up with boating, we mainly enjoy camping during the other seasons. The popular place we go to is Morro Bay, but always fun to explore Yosemite and Mono County campgrounds.
49ers Game Days
Always trying to coordinate time with friends and family to watch the 9ers play. Had some fun times at the new Levi's Stadium and even had the privilege of watching one of their final games at Candlestick Park.
Beer Brewing & Brewery Visiting
I started brewing beer in college and joined the SJSU brew club. I've brewed about 20+
5-gallon batches in college. In apartment living, that hobby was put on hold for a few years. Soon to start up again.
Beer tasting events are always fun. We've been to some Beerwalk events but the main event we've always enjoyed is the Scotts Valley Hop 'N Barley Festival in the summer.
My wife and I built a three-tap self-serve bar for our wedding, holding Stone Brewing IPA, Mermaids Red Ale by Coronado Brewing Company, and Nutty Burnette by BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse.
